The Apple Airport Express is often an overlooked product. It’s unlike any of the other routers on the market, mainly in terms of design. This looks no different from Apple’s MacBook charger blocks, and plugs directly into a wall power socket. Included on it are 3 ports: Ethernet, USB, and Audio In. How the Airport Express is useful is that it can serve many purposes.
1) It (obviously) serves as a wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n router.
2) It can also act as a wireless range extender and serve as a wireless bridge.
3) It can be a bridge for wireless printing capabilities, for compatible USB printers.
4) It can allow you to wirelessly use your stereo speakers with your iTunes library in another room: this is AirTunes.
5) and.. one of the niftiest features, I think, is that when you’re on-the-road, in addition to doing all the above, the USB port can also act as an iPhone/iPod charger. So, you won’t have to bring around another little block, and double everything up with the Airport Express. And, to top this all off, like all other Apple products
Of course, the main advantage is that this small little device seriously de-clutters your desk!
