Apple’s iWork.com service introduced at Macworld this year along with iWork ‘09 was down earlier today. The servers are now back up for service, and there seem to be a few new features to the seemingly-forgotten service!
I believe that the domain http://www.iwork.com did nothing but redirect to the iWork product page prior to today, but now it brings the user to a nice new iWork.com sign-in page. Signing in to this page brings the user to his/her list of shared documents. This page is also updated from the previous plain list. There are now nice icons and more options, giving a more organized and presentable view.
The main document view now features a slightly different top toolbar, with buttons for adding different kinds of comments, hiding all comments, printing and downloading options. Everything also seems to be a little snappier; I don’t know if this is my imagination, or perhaps Apple upgraded their servers and cleaned some things out.
These new updates are definitely signs that iWork.com has not been forgotten, and Apple will most probably take it out of public beta very soon! Then, will Apple merge it with MobileMe? That would really be nice! Head on over to iWork.com yourself now to check out the new features.
